Tournament Information
Registration
Registration for the 2026 University of Massachusetts Amherst Science Olympiad tournament is open! Our Division C tournament will be held on campus on February 14th, 2026.
Registered teams must pay the $40 registration fee or request an extension by November 20th. Teams that do not do so will be subjected to a $70 late registration fee per team instead of the normal $40 fee.
Registration for the 2026 tournament has now closed.
Tournament Details
We will be running the same 21 events as the Massachusetts State Science Olympiad, which includes all main national events excluding Flight. Build events will follow the State guidelines, while all other events (including the Hybrid events Machines, Wind Power, and Material Science) will use the National guidelines.
Similar to last year's tournament, we will be offering special awards for build events! We hope to encourage
creative and innovative builds through these awards.

Important note: All teams attending the tournament (students and coaches) are required to complete the release forms before the tournament date.
Enrichment Opportunities
Lightning Talks
From 4:30-6 p.m in Student Union room 471 A+B, after all event blocks have concluded, we will be hosting Lightning Talks. These are short lectures (~15 minutes) about a variety of fascinating topics, ranging from proteomics to cournot duopoly and overconfidence!

This year, florrent will be hosting an exciting energy storage workshop in Student Union room 471 A+B from 12:15pm - 12:45pm!
Join us for an immersive and hands-on workshop to learn about how florrent uses pecan shells to store electricity!
Scavenger Hunt
Scavenger Hunt
UMASO is hosting a Scavenger Hunt as part of our tournament activities this year! Explore the UMass campus while getting to know us better through fun challenges, trivia, and photo opportunities. Discover all the amazing things offered by UMASO to earn points and compete for a small prize with your team!

Merch
Our Publicity team has been hard at work this semester creating awesome new designs, and we are thrilled to share these with everyone. This year, our merch includes a crewneck sweatshirt, a hoodie, a T-shirt, and keychains. Please note that we will also be selling merch on the day of the tournament, though pre-orders are the best way to ensure that you get the merch items you would like before they run out!
